Your First Visit and Billing
The physiotherapy assessment
is approximately one hour long. The assessment includes taking
history of the present injury as well as other pertinent past
medical history followed by a physical examination by the
physiotherapist. After the physical testing is complete your
physiotherapist will discuss their evaluation and set out a
personal treatment plan with you. Your plan may include
recommended passive therapy that will be performed in our
clinic, an introduction to the active component of the treatment
plan and your home exercises. You can expect to receive some
treatment and some education before you leave our clinic.
Keep in mind to dress
appropriately for your appointments (i.e. shorts for knee
injury, running shoes, tank tops for shoulder injury).
Extended Health
Coverage
We are able to bill on
your behalf if your benefit carriers are Green Shield or Blue
Cross. In that case we would only need your benefit card
information such as plan and/or policy numbers and signature on
forms. You would be responsible for any deductibles or
percentage of the treatment not reimbursed.
We are happy to help you
with your EHC coverage. We offer our help as a no fee service so
please inquire with us if you are unsure about your coverage how
to bill, who to bill, what to send etc.
All or part of your
treatment fees may be reimbursed by your Extended Health Care
plan, depending upon the details of your plan. If you do not
have coverage through your Extended Health Care plan you may
still be covered by a spouse's plan or a parent's plan.
It's important to note
that while we will do our very best to help you, there are some
Insurance companies that will not release any information to
anyone but the plan member. In this event, we will be happy to
guide you through the process with a list of proper questions to
ask.
Your insurance plan may
require a Doctor's referral to process your expense claim.
Please take a moment to check with your Insurance Company or ask
us to call on your behalf before starting treatment to avoid any
delays in payment.
It is also important to
note that deductibles are the responsibility of the client,
along with any percentage of the treatment that is not
reimbursed.
Motor Vehicle Accident
(MVA)
We are happy to assist and
treat clients who have had a Motor Vehicle Accident. We are
experienced at handling the paperwork, as well as developing the
appropriate treatment plans, communicating with adjusters,
completing Progress Reports, and of course treating the
injuries!
Several years ago the
Financial Services Commission of Ontario passed the “Statutory
Accident Benefits Schedule”. It states that any person involved
in a Motor Vehicle Accident must fully exhaust their personal
Extended Health Insurance prior to billing the Motor Vehicle
Insurance Company. If you have Extended Health Insurance we will
submit your treatments on your behalf and will wait for
payments. Once your insurance is exhausted we submit the
remainder to your auto insurer. We are aware of the most
up-to-date guidelines and fully operate in accordance with them
and so will assist our clients with this process as well.
Workplace Safety and
Insurance Board (WSIB)
If you have been injured
at work you have to report it to work, where you complete
necessary paperwork so that your work can forward your
information to WSIB to start your claim. Once your claim is
started you are eligible for physiotherapy treatments and you
can schedule your appointments. We bill WSIB directly for
treatments provided, complete necessary forms, progress reports,
treatment extensions and communicate with adjudicators, your
workplace and other healthcare professionals involved in your
treatment. |
